Study Finds Potential Health Risks In Popular Fish

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ― Tilapia, a flakey white fish that is found in restaurants and markets around the Bay Area, is drawing criticism for its potential health implications.

People are often encouraged to eat more fish, but researchers at Wake University claim not all fish are created equal, especially when that fish is farmed.

Scientists discovered that some farmed fish contained high levels of beneficial Omega-3 fatty acids, but the same was not true of tilapia and catfish. Researchers also found that tilapia contained high levels of potentially detrimental acids called Omega-6.

Our video report has more on the types of fish that pack the healthiest punch.
