Collectors can bid on history Friday when the Presidio Trust auctions furniture, fixtures, and an unusual assortment of items left behind when the Army departed in 1994.
Items salvaged from Presidio buildings include wood tables and chests, trunks, cabinets, and at least one piano. There are clawfoot bathtubs, sinks, appliances, and stainless steel display cases. Or you could pick up a lighting fixture, a clock, or a military footlocker. Among the strangest items: a bedpan washing machine from the old Letterman hospital.
The auction is scheduled for Friday, August 28 at 9 a.m. at the Herbst International Exhibition Hall at the Presidio - 385 Moraga Ave. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Bring a photo i.d. and tax i.d. # or ssn. For more information about the auction from the Presidio Trust, call 415-561-4260.
