Improv Everywhere Plans 'No Pants' Subway Ride

BOSTON (CBS) ― If you're planning on taking the subway in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles or New York (among other cities) Saturday afternoon, you might see something unusual on the train: dozens of passengers without pants.

The New York-based group Improv Everywhere is encouraging people to sign up for the global stunt January 10.

The group says there are only two basic requirements for participation.

You "must be willing to take your pants off on a subway" and be "able to keep a straight face" while doing it.

They request participants don't wear a thong or anything else that might offend passengers.

Here are some of their suggestions for participating:

- Wear normal clothes for the weather- gloves/mittens, hat, scarf, jacket, etc

- Do not wear stockings (pantyhose for women is fine, but stockings and "long john" underwear are cheating!)

- Wear relatively modest underwear (no thongs!) and preferably an extra pair of underwear underneath! IT IS COLD and an extra pair will not only help keep you warm but diminish the risk of "wardrobe malfunctions" (and the subsequent trip to the police station).

- From past rides I'd recommend avoiding evening coats and trench coats as you end up looking more like a flasher or a prostitute than a crazy person who forgot their pants!

Hundreds of people signed up for last year's inaugural event in Boston, which went off without any major problems.

But one blogger who took part said it was "the worst kept secret in town."

"During the same event last year, the participants were well-behaved and no problems were reported," MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo told CBS station WBZ-TV in Boston.

"There is no reason to believe that things will be different this time around."
