Mass. Man Grows World's Largest Pumpkin

SHARON, Mass. (CBS) ― Conditions were just right this year for a huge pumpkin grown in Massachusetts.

The world record sized gourd is 16 feet around and weighs nearly a ton at 1,878 pounds. And it's still growing at a rate of about 11 pounds a day, CBS station WBZ-TV reported.

Steve Connolly started growing the pumpkin from a seed five months ago.

He said he hopes to have it certified next week at a farm in Rhode Island.
