Undercover Drug Sting Nets 70-Year-Old Fla. Granny
Police: Woman Caught Buying Marijuana And Cocaine
MIAMI (CBS) ―
She's not your typical drug suspect but police say they've arrested a 70-year-old grandmother for allegedly buying drugs on the streets of Miami, reports CBS station WFOR-TV in Miami.
According to the arrest form, the City of Miami police conducted a narcotics investigation at SW 7th Street and 8th Avenue on Wednesday August 20th when 70-year-old Paula Carrido was observed by an undercover officer buying marijuana and cocaine.
When officers stopped Carrido, they found three plastic baggies of marijuana in her right hand and one plastic baggie of powder cocaine in her bra, according to the report.

he told WFOR that she was not guilty and that she did it for her son.
Speaking in Spanish, Carrido said, a friend gave her son "the marijuana and the small bag of cocaine to take away the pain from cancer".
She claimed that a friend of her son's gave them the drugs for medicinal purposes, but according to the police report money was exchanged which made it a drug purchase.
Any mother, she continued, "would make a mistake to defend her child".
She also claimed she was roughed up by authorities, pointing to a her bruised wrists from the plastic handcuffs.
She was arrested for possession of marijuana and cocaine while her son had been held for a previous drug charge.
In bond court Thursday morning, the judge chastised the grandmother of three. "Don't you think you'd be embarrassed to have your grandchildren know that you're in jail for buying drugs?"
Carrido, who has no criminal record, had bond set at $5,000.
