Backwards Bicyclist Raising HIV/AIDS Awareness

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― A Southern California resident is biking backwards across America to draw attention to the plight of HIV/AIDS patients.

Curan Wright hopes people will learn his reason is to bring awareness for his issues of HIV-AIDS, homelessness and medical marijuana. He hopes Congress will allocate more money for HIV-AIDS prevention and treatment.

After visiting family in Kansas, Wright plans to ride his specially-designed 20-inch bicycle through Nebraska, the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho and Washington State. The 28-year-old has already been about 53-hundred miles, going as far south as the Florida Keys and up to Washington DC where he talked to members of Congress.

The Wichita native now lives in Venice, California. He is HIV-positive and used to be homeless. He said he'll keep on biking as long as his health allows.
