Town Invaded As Roswell Remembers

ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) ― If you believe a U-F-O and its bug-eyed crew crashed at Roswell 60 years ago—you are not alone.

At least 35-thousand people have descended on the New Mexico town for a festival marking a purported flying saucer crash in July 1947.

The festival emerged in the 1990s to spark debate over what really happened. The government says the purported flying saucer was actually a top secret weather balloon. Believers think the government has been hushing-up the truth of an alien landing in a conspiracy of lies.

The space aliens are big business in Roswell. The convention center has been jammed. There are photo ops with costumed aliens and offers of psychic readings—and even a test kit to learn if your boss is from outer space.

And a theme park is being considered that would include a hotel that looks like a flying saucer.
