A baby boy born at a San Jose hospital Friday morning may have edged out a girl born in San Francisco as the first baby born in the Bay Area in 2010.
A boy was delivered at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose about 20 seconds after midnight, a nursing supervisor at the hospital said.
The birth might have beat another one in San Francisco by a matter of seconds.
At 12:01 a.m., Rosa Lee was born at California Pacific Medical Center's California campus, hospital spokesman Kevin McCormack said.
Rosa weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces at birth.
Both babies were in good condition Friday morning.
