Google Offers Free Wi-Fi At SJ Mineta Airport
SAN JOSE (CBS 5 / BCN) ―
Mineta San Jose International Airport is one of 47 U.S. airports offering travelers Google-sponsored free wireless Internet service during the holidays.
San Jose's airport has offered its own free wifi service since May 2008, but Google will be supporting its system until Jan. 15, according to airport spokesman David Vossbrink.
San Jose Airport aviation director Bill Sherry said in a statement that the partnership is natural since Mineta serves Silicon Valley. Google is headquartered in nearby Mountain View.
Sacramento International Airport will also receive free Google wifi during the busy travel season, but Oakland and San Francisco's airports are not included.
Google began offering the wireless service on Tuesday. The company describes the promotion as a gift to passengers enduring the crowds and delays often associated with holiday air travel.
Users do not need to enter their email address or any login information to use the Internet.
