The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed captain and leading scorer Rick Nash on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 6.
General manager Scott Howson also announced Monday that forward Derek MacKenzie has been recalled from the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.
Nash, named to the Western Conference All-Star team last week, is day-to-day with a lower body injury. The four-time All-Star has 17 goals and 22 assists in 40 games this season.
Nash has a team-high four game-winning goals and is averaging 20:50 of ice time, tops among club forwards.
The 27-year-old MacKenzie has eight goals and 10 assists in 23 games with Syracuse this season. He has two goals and two assists in 45 career NHL games with Columbus and Atlanta.
