SaberCats WR Roe Won't Play In Arena Bowl
SAN JOSE (CBS 5) ―
San Jose SaberCats receiver James Roe will miss the Arena Bowl against the Philadelphia Soul next Sunday with a strained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, the San Jose Mercury News has reported.
The 34-year-old Roe, the franchise leader in catches, receiving yards and touchdown catches, injured his knee July 5 in a 64-51 playoff victory over the Colorado Crush in which he caught three touchdown passes.
"It's tough, because these are guys I've been going to war with all year," Roe said, according to the newspaper. "I guess I'll just have a different role and help out the best way I can."
Roe had undergone treatment and was hoping to be healthy enough to play in the championship game, the Mercury News reported.
"I'll just have to rehab it," Roe said. "I'm planning to come back next year."
