A proposal to build a new stadium in Santa Clara for the 49ers football team is approaching two crucial stages this week.
After the environmental report was released Friday on the proposed 68,500 seat stadium, members of Santa Clara's planning commission were set to review the report's assessment of traffic and other issues.
Then on Wednesday, members of the community will be able to voice their opinions when the commission holds a public meeting on the $937 million project.
If the environmental report gets the approval from the planning commission, then it will go to the City Council on Dec. 8.
Council members will decide if the stadium issue should be placed on a citywide ballot most likely next June.
