The Death Of Halloween In The Castro

San Francisco officials warned revelers to stay away from the Castro District this Halloween, in hopes of avoiding a repeat of the violent 2006 celebrations. More than 250 uniformed police helped keep the peace among the small crowd that defied warnings and donned costumes.

A restaurant in San Francisco's Castro neighborhood closes its doors for Halloween night on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007. City officials, fearing violent incidents like last year's nine person shooting, canceled this year's celebration and urged businesses to close for the night. Some residents still came to the Castro to celebrate.
