Hasani, a six month-old Western Lowland Gorilla, was born on December 8, 2008, and has been hand-raised by zoo staff after being rejected by his mother at birth. A surrogate gorilla mother, Bawang, was trained to care for Hasani and has accepted the newborn. The public got their first chance to see Hasani on June 5th, 2009.
