List: Pistachio Product Recalls

The following recalls have been announced because the products may be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems:
Ann's House of Nuts Inc. is recalling products containing pistachios. No complaints or illnesses have been reported, according to the company. For more information, consumers can call 800-466-2667.
The recalled items include:
• Ann's House of Nuts Shelled Pistachios, Roasted and Salted; sold in clear 16-ounce jars at Publix Super Market in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee, with the UPC code 038718060160 and "best if used by" dates between 08AUG2009 and 24JAN2010.
• Ann's House of Nuts Shelled Pistachios, Roasted and Salted; sold in clear 16-ounce jars at the Ann's House of Nuts Retail Outlet Store in Jessup, Md., with the UPC code 038718060160 and "best if used by" dates of 11JAN2010 and 24JAN2010.
• Pecan Paradise; sold in about 2-pound twist tie clear poly bags at the Ann's House of Nuts Retail Outlet Store in Jessup, Md., from Feb. 27 to March 25, 2009.
• Giant Eagle Pecan Perfection; sold in clear 11-ounce jars at
Giant Eagle stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland, with the UPC code 030034058562 and "best if used by" date of 01SEP2009.
• Wegmans Pecan Blend; sold in clear 16-ounce jars at Wegmans stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia, with the UPC code 077890943465 and "best if used by" date of 12NOV2009.
• Wegmans Pistachio Blend; sold in clear 16-ounce jars at Wegmans stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia, with the UPC code 077890894170 and "best if used by" dates of 04SEP2009, 18NOV2009, 23NOV2009 and 18DEC2009.
Fritz Company Inc. is recalling Fritzie Fresh Natural Pistachios products, with date codes of 08361. The company said it has not received any consumer illness complaints. The recall involves Fritzie Fresh Natural Pistachios; 4.0 ounce bags; UPC code 076056 09460; and date codes of 08361. The recalled products were shipped to retail locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana. For more information, consumers can call 800-328-1652.
