  SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS, CBS 5/THE CW 44 CABLE 12 EXTEND AGREEMENT TO BROADCAST 49ERS PRESEASON GAMES INCLUDES "49ERS PREVIEW" AND "PRESS PASS" SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS, CBS 5/THE CW 44 CABLE 12 EXTEND AGREEMENT TO BROADCAST 49ERS PRESEASON GAMES INCLUDES "49ERS PREVIEW" AND "PRESS PASS" For Immediate Release  February 4, 2009 San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose- The San Francisco 49ers and CBS 5 /The CW 44 Cable 12 (KPIX/KBCW TV) announced today they have reached an agreement on a four-year extension for CBS 5 /The CW44 to broadcast 49ers preseason games.  All games will be broadcast in High Definition (HD).

The partnership will continue the 49ers long
-standing relationship (30 years) with CBS 5, a market leader with a commitment to the Bay Area with quality local programming.

"CBS 5's high quality sports programming and insight into what makes so many viewers 49ers fans, is critical to continuing the momentum we established at the end of last season.  We can't wait for the 2009 preseason kick-off on CBS 5" Andy Dolich, San Francisco 49ers COO said.


The agreement will provide 49er fans with more shows dedicated to their favorite team. Not only will all 49ers preseason games be broadcast in HD, but CBS 5 will also air "49ers Preview" each Saturday during the regular season.  "49ers Preview" takes a look at the upcoming opponent as well as exclusive interviews with 49ers players and coaches. Throughout the year, CBS 5 will also produce regular 49ers specials to highlight the team and its work in the community.  During the regular season, coverage of Head Coach Mike Singletary's weekly press conference, Press Pass, will be streamed live on cbs5.com the Monday following the games.  Later that day, a full 30-minute recap of the press conference and highlights from the game will be broadcast on The CW 44 Cable 12.

The San Francisco 49ers, owned by Denise and John York, currently play in the NFC West division and won each Super Bowl contest it entered, earning five Super Bowl trophies including Super Bowl XVI, XIX, XXIII, XXIV and XXIX.  The franchise also has five conference championships and 17 divisional championships and were the first major league professional sports franchise to be based in San Francisco over 60 years ago.

CBS 5/The CW 44 Cable 12 are part of the CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation (http://www.cbscorporation.com). CBS 5 (www.cbs5.com) began in 1948 as the first television station in Northern California. The CW 44cable 12(http://www.kbcwtv.com) began in 1968 as the first UHF station in the Bay area. The two stations became a duopoly in 2002.
