Newsom's Story On Sanctuary Policy May Not Add Up

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ― Mayor Gavin Newsom has said repeatedly a policy over shielding illegal immigrants who commit crimes did not change because of recent news reports. Now there are new questions raised over what the Mayor and city officials knew, and when they knew it.

San Francisco had reportedly shielded criminals by flying them back to their home countries or sending them to group homes in Southern California. Mayor Newsom has said the practice ended on May 16, when the city stopped flying young criminals back to Honduras. But some officials, including the head of San Francisco's Juvenile Probation Department say cooperation with federal agents began after reports surfaced.
