San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is issuing a warning that the city is facing even more budget cuts.
After announcing plans earlier this week to reduce San Francisco's budget by $71 million for the current year's budget, the mayor said the city will have to cut an additional 12.5 percent -- or nearly $145 millionfrom next year's budget.
The mayor is scheduled to meet with city department chiefs to give them more specific instructions for his latest budget-cut proposals, which will likely be due early next year.
Meanwhile, Friday the city will give layoff notices to 400 employees who lose their jobs as part of job cuts announced earlier this week.
Those workers will remain employed through February.
