Governor Greeted By Protests At E.Bay Appearance

PLEASANT HILL (CBS 5 / KCBS) ― Governor Schwarzenegger was met by dozens of protestors in Pleasant Hill Wednesday as he spoke in support of a constitutional amendment to reform the state budget process.

The governor held a budget discussion at city hall with about 40 local lawmakers, including state Assemblyman Mark DeSaulnier, D-Martinez. DeSaulnier said Schwarzenegger is out of touch with the people who will be affected by his proposed budget cuts.

"He can't see the pain and suffering that we see and I don't think he chooses to ignore it, I just don't think he understands it's there," said DeSaulnier.

Dozens of parents and students, meanwhile, gathered outside Pleasant Hill city hall protesting proposed cuts in school funding.
