Rossmoor May Shoot Flocks Of Woodpeckers
Don Knapp, Reporting
ROSSMOOR (CBS 5) ―
Shunning the hardwood of old oaks, woodpeckers in the retirement community of Rossmoor have taken to pecking holes and burying acorns in the softer woods of newer homes.
Residents fed up with the noise and the holes say they've gone all out to beat back the birds to no avail. Now the maintenance cooperative is planning to shoot at least 50 woodpeckers within a week. But some neighbors are objecting to the idea and think there must be a better way to handle the woodpeckers.
