2 Dogs Tossed Out Of Car In Oakland Animal Abuse
OAKLAND (CBS 5) ―
A $1,000 reward has been offered after one dog was shot and another dog was tossed out of a moving car in a recent case of animal abuse.
On August 1st, police responded to a call of two injured dogs on the corner of a 98th Avenue & Lawlor in East Oakland. When officers arrived, one dog, reportedly a female miniature pinscher was dead. A small male mixed breed was also found at the scene, severely injured.
Neighbors said they heard several loud gunshots, followed by a dog screaming and a car racing off at the time of the incident.
An examination from a veterinarian found the female dog died from a gunshot wound to the neck. Her back leg and spine were also damaged.
The surviving dog is being treated at the Oakland Animal Shelter. Officials say the dog has a gunshot wound, a broken back, femur and pelvis and will need further surgery.
Anyone with information on this incident are asked to called the Oakland Animal Shelter at (510) 535-5604. The Friends of The Oakland Animal Shelter are accepting donations at
