Two dead cats and the carcass of a large dog have turned up in lockers at Dublin high school in the last three weeks.
In the latest discovery Tuesday, school officials noticed a malodorous smell and soon discovered a dead cat stuffed into an unassigned locker.
On Wednesday, Dublin police revealed that the cat had a shaved stomach and stitches, indicating that it had been recently spayed.
School officials say they are disturbed by the phenomenon and sent a letter to parents alerting them of the carcass findings.
All three animals were found in lockers outside of the school's buildings. School officials say the combination locks on two of the lockers appear to have been broken into.
Police say the animals showed no sign of trauma and that there are no leads in the investigation. The school district is offering a $250 reward for information.
