Mountain Lion Seen In Danville Residential Area

DANVILLE (BCN) ― Danville police searched a residential neighborhood, walking paths and open space areas for several hours Wednesday night after a woman reported a mountain lion sighting, police Sgt. Phillip Wisotsky said Friday.

A woman walking in the area of Zamora Place reported that she saw what she thought was a dog around midnight, Wisotsky said. The woman then approached the animal and thought it appeared to be a mountain lion.

The woman retreated and the animal jumped over a low fence, Wisotsky said. Three officers responded to her call and searched the dimly lit area, which approaches a trail that opens to the larger open space.

Officers searched for several hours on a hill, on the walking path, in neighbors' yards and with a flashlight in the open space areas without finding the animal, Wisotsky said.

The main concern regarding the report of the mountain lion was that it was seen in a residential area, according to Wisotsky.
