State Biologists Find Massive Salmon In NorCal

REDDING (AP) ― State biologists said they've found one of the largest Chinook salmon ever recorded in California.

The 51-inch fish died of natural causes in lower Battle Creek south of Redding.

Biologists estimate the fish was five- or six years old. It would have weighed more than 88 pounds when alive.

That would have been a state record. Most fish in the creek top out at 30 pounds.
