Missile Strike Reportedly Hits Pakistan Village

KHAR, Pakistan (AP) ― Residents say a missile strike on a house in a Pakistan border village has killed about a dozen people.

At least two explosions went off in Damadola, in the Bajur region near Afghanistan late Wednesday. Residents said they had seen drones flying in the area.

Villager Ibrahim Khan said local Taliban leaders had gathered for a feast at the targeted house, and at least 15 people were killed.

Taliban spokesman Maulvi Umar said militants have cordoned off the area. He said more than 10 people had died.

Pakistan army spokesman Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas did not confirm reports of a missile strike. In 2006, a U.S. missile unsuccessfully targeted al-Qaida No. 2 leader Ayman al-Zawahri in Damadola.
