$25 Million Lawsuit Filed In 'Neglect Death'

Records Claim At 6:20 Esmin Green Was 'Sitting Quietly In Waiting Room' Though She Was Already Dead

NEW YORK (AP) ― The family of a woman whose death in a Brooklyn psychiatric ward was caught on surveillance footage say they intend to file a $25 million lawsuit.

Lawyer Sanford Rubenstein says the family also is calling for criminal charges in the case. He says the court papers notifying the hospital and the city of the family's intent to sue were filed Tuesday.

Surveillance footage showed 49-year-old Esmin Elizabeth Green collapsing face down on the floor in the Kings County Hospital emergency room. She was largely ignored for about an hour.

The cause of her death is still under investigation. Six people have been fired from the hospital.

Representatives of Kings County Hospital and the city's Health and Hospitals Corporation did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
