2 U.S. Military Accused Of Afghan Contract Bribery

CHICAGO (AP) ― Two U.S. military personnel and four contractors have been indicted on bribery and conspiracy charges involving Department of Defense contracts in Afghanistan.

The federal indictment unsealed Wednesday in Chicago also names two contracting companies that operated in Afghanistan during 2004 and 2005. The two military personnel are accused of accepting $90,000 to arrange contracts worth more than $1 million.

Illinois National Guard Major Christopher P. West of Chicago was arrested Monday. He had served at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.

Air Force Tech. Sgt. Patrick W. Boyd of Rockledge, Fla., was arrested Tuesday. He was a contracting officer at Bagram.
