A Boston EMT is charged with shooting two of his former work partner's brothers and police say he also offered them first aid.
Police officials say 41-year-old Rhys Williams, a Boston emergency medical technician, had been kicked out of an after hours party, reports CBS station WBZ-TV in Boston.
Williams was sitting in his car when police say he continued to argue with brothers John and Paul Brinkman.
At some point, someone shattered the windshield on Williams' new Subaru Outback. The confrontation continued until Williams reportedly pulled out a gun and fired at the pair.
John Brinkman, 42, of Quincy, was shot in the leg.
His 36-year-old brother Paul was shot point-blank in the chest.
Investigators say Williams grabbed his EMT bag and tried to help treat the men. He also allegedly called 911.
One witness told the
Patriot Ledger Williams kept saying, "Why did you make me shoot you?"
When police arrived the brothers were being assisted by their wives and Williams was standing off to the side.
"Both are expected to survive," Abington police chief Dave Majenski said Monday.
Williams, who police say was intoxicated, was arrested and is facing charges of assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a firearm.
Majenski said Williams did have a license to carry the gun, a 9 mm glock.
All three men had attended a benefit earlier Saturday night in memory of a third Brinkman brother, Mark, Williams' former EMT partner who died in May, according to the Ledger.
Williams has been an emergency medical technician in Boston since October 2002.
A Boston emergency services spokeswoman says Williams, on medical leave since July, has been placed in administrative leave.
