Russia Denies Georgian Troop Withdrawal

TBILISI, Georgia (AP) ― Georgia's Foreign Ministry says Georgian troops have begun observing cease-fire in the breakaway province of South Ossetia.

The ministry says that the troops have ceased fire on President Mikhail Saakashvili's order. The Georgian authorities have previously announced that Georgian troops have left the limits of South Ossetia.

The ministry expressed its readiness Sunday to immediately start negotiations with Russia on cease-fire and termination of hostilities.
