Woman Kidnapped, Robbed In SF Mission District

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ― A man in a pickup truck briefly kidnapped a 27-year-old woman in San Francisco's Mission District early Thursday morning before taking her purse and letting her go a mile away, police said.

The victim, who is not a San Francisco resident, had pulled over near 19th Street and South Van Ness Avenue shortly after 4:30 a.m. Thursday to adjust something in the trunk of her car, San Francisco police Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said.

A pickup truck pulled up next to her and a man inside forced her into the cabin of his vehicle, Tomioka said. He drove her around for a few minutes before taking her purse, stopping the truck and forcing her to get out.

Tomioka said the victim was dropped off at Folsom and Stoneman streets, a little over a mile from where she was kidnapped. She knocked on a resident's door and used the person's phone to call police at 4:45 a.m.

The victim was not injured. No arrests have been made, and there are no suspects in the case, Tomioka said.
