Gilroy Woman Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle

GILROY (BCN) ― A woman died Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle on a Gilroy street earlier in the day, according to police.

The woman was identified Sunday by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as Margaret Garza, 45, of Gilroy.

Officers responded at about 1:20 p.m. Saturday to Monterey Road near the intersection of Monterey Frontage Road and found the woman lying injured in the street, police said.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries, according to police.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene when police arrived and was found to be uninjured, police said.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to police.

The woman has not yet been identified, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
