War brides sharing their stories during a reunion in Burlingame on Thursday.

They gathered in Burlingame on Thursday to trade war stories and love stories. The two will always be intertwined among this group. It is estimated a million women from overseas married members of the Greatest Generation, with 60,000 settling in the Bay Area.
The law had to be changed for the women to come into the United States, the War Brides Act of 1942 allowed for the first time citizen's spouses to become citizens. It wasn't always easy, leaving behind friends, family and a life they knew so well.
