Charges Filed In Fatal Walnut Creek Stabbing
WALNUT CREEK (BCN) ―
The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office filed murder charges Tuesday against an 18-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing a 17-year-old boy in front of a house party in Walnut Creek late Wednesday, police said.
The Walnut Creek Police Department received a call from Kaiser Hospital's emergency room around 12:05 a.m. Thursday reporting that the victim's friends had brought him to the hospital with multiple stab wounds. He died from his injuries at the hospital, Lt. Mark Covington said.
The Contra Costa County coroner's office identified the victim as Rodeo resident Jonart Yambao.
Investigators determined that Yambao had been assaulted outside a house party on Clover Lane near Nicholson Road. They later arrested Daniel Avanesyan on suspicion of murder, Covington said.
Avanesyan remains in county jail in Martinez on $1 million bail.
