A day after reopening following a Christmas Day fatal tiger attack, the San Francisco Zoo once again closed its doors Friday because of a massive storm sweeping through the Bay Area.
According to zoo spokesman Paul Garcia, the zoo lost power Friday morning in an outage affecting parts of the Sunset District and as a precautionary measure, will remain closed throughout the day.
The zoo's horticulture staff is combing the area to remove fallen tree branches, and most of the animals will remain safely in their dens, Garcia said.
Zoo officials hope to reopen the zoo Saturday at 10 a.m., Garcia said.
