Eye On Blogs: Eyewitness Says Agent Was Attacked
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / AP / BCN) ― A San Francisco Municipal Railway ticket agent was arrested Thursday afternoon after he was involved in a physical altercation with two sisters at the Embarcadero station.

Police a 17-year-old girl and her sister asked 59-year-old Muni ticket agent Kenneth Valentine for a youth ticket Thursday afternoon at the Embarcadero Station. Youth tickets cost 75 cents while adult trips cost $2.

But the girl did not have any proof of age, and police said she may have looked older than she was.

Valentine allegedly punched her as they argued over the fare. He was arrested on suspicion of felony and misdemeanor assault. It appears at least one of the sisters then threw a soda can at the ticket agent, Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said.

"The preliminary investigation indicates the ticket agent was the aggressor," Sgt. Tomioka said.

Police said Valentine and the girl were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Muni spokesman Judson True says the agency is conducting its own investigation into the incident.

Muni spokesman Judson True issued a statement Thursday evening reading, "We are deeply troubled by this altercation and will assist the San Francisco Police Department in their investigation of it. We expect our employees to avoid verbal and physical altercations with our customer as much as possible, and we take seriously our responsibility to respond appropriately to this afternoon's incident."
