3-Alarm Fire Rips Through Napa Apartments; 1 Hurt
NAPA (BCN) ―
A three-alarm fire ravaged a Napa apartment building and critically injured a resident early Monday morning, a fire captain said.
Crews responded to the two-story, eight-unit apartment building at 2053 Wilkins Ave. in the southern part of the city shortly after 3 a.m., Napa fire Capt. Conrad Perez said.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation, but it appeared the blaze started in a downstairs apartment and quickly spread to the second-story unit above, Perez said.
A man in the downstairs apartment was critically injured and flown to University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
No other injuries were reported, but Perez said several residents above the fire "barely escaped when the fire spread.''
At least eight people were displaced by the blaze, which was extinguished about 30 to 40 minutes after it was reported, Perez said
The fire seriously damaged two units and caused some damage to at least two others, Perez said.
