San Rafael Swimmer Drowns In NY's East River
SAN RAFAEL (CBS 5 / AP) ―
New York City police say a man spotted swimming in the East River was pulled out of the water but later died.
Police say the 59-year-old man was seen swimming at 10:10 a.m. Saturday under the Brooklyn Bridge.
A police harbor unit responded to the scene. The man was transported to a hospital where he died a short time later.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Police identified the swimmer as Richard Harley of San Rafael, Calif.
