Surfer Rescued Of Half Moon Bay Coast
HALF MOON BAY (BCN) ―
A surfer was rescued from the water off the coast of Half Moon Bay on Sunday.
The Coast Guard received a report shortly before 5:30 p.m. that a 32-year-old man was missing after leaving to surf off of Dunes Beach.
The Coast Guard notified Pillar Point Harbor Patrol and dispatched its own crews to search for the missing man.
Working in near darkness and navigating 12-foot waves, the rescuers found the distressed surfer treading water about 300 yards offshore, according to the Coast Guard.
The man was pulled from the water and suffered no injuries.
"Our exceptional knowledge of this area and the known conditions made it possible to perform this mission," Pillar Point Harbor Patrolman John Draper said.
