Stray Oak. Bullet Leaves Sleeping Woman Brain Dead
OAKLAND (AP) ―
The mother of an Oakland woman who was hit by a stray bullet as she slept in her bed says her daughter has been declared brain dead.
Shaneice Davis was hit in the head by the bullet Monday night.
Word of the 21-year-old's condition somes from her mother—
Consuelo Starks—who told the Oakland Tribune that her daughter had been declared brain dead Tuesday.
Police believe the stray shot that hit Davis was one of the bullets fired in a barrage of rounds at a group of teens just before midnight Monday.
Those teens were standing at an outdoor memorial for another shooting victim.
The shot traveled through the wall of an apartment and hit Davis in the head.
Three men also were injured in the shooting. Officials say their injuries were treated and not considered life-threatening.
