Stabbing Becomes Watsonville's 1st Murder Of Year
WATSONVILLE (BCN) ―
Watsonville police are trying to identify a suspect in the city's first homicide of the year, a fatal stabbing that claimed the life of a 20-year-old man late Friday night.
Around 11 p.m. officers received reports of a man down near 240 Clifford Ave., police said. Upon arrival they found Prunedale resident Leonardo Barajas Perez suffering from a stab wound to his upper torso.
Perez died before he could be taken to a hospital, police said. The motive for the stabbing is under investigation.
The suspect took the victim's vehicle, and officers are continuing to search for the car, a 1991 red Ford T-bird with license number 5WOB997.
