N. Bay Man Sought In Girlfriend Death, Mom Assault
SANTA ROSA (CBS 5 / KCBS / BCN) ―
Authorities in Sonoma and Mendocino counties are searching for a Santa Rosa man who allegedly stabbed to death his girlfriend in Santa Rosa on Sunday night, then drove to Ukiah to attack the girlfriend's mother Monday morning.
The subject of the manhunt is Honorio Panteleon, 30, who is also known as Victor Pantaleon, said Santa Rosa police Sgt. Lisa Banayat.
The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat newspaper identified the murdered girlfriend as Patricia Barrales.
Police went to the Barrales' Montecito Avenue apartment after her brother expressed concern about her, saying that she had previously been the victim of domestic violence.
Barrales shared the apartment with Panteleon, who is also the father of her two children. Police told CBS 5 that the victim's body was found stuffed in the closet with all the children's toys.
The couple's children, both under age 5, may have been in the apartment at the time of their mother's murder but it's unknown if they witnessed it, Banayat said. The children are now with other family members.
An autopsy will likely be conducted Tuesday or Wednesday; police said the woman died from multiple stab wounds.
The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said they believe Pantaleon then traveled to the home of his girlfriend's mother -- where he allegedly assaulted her at gunpoint.
She was hit over the head with the weapon when it didn't fire, authorities said. The mother was treated at the hospital for a cut to her head.
Pantaleon is described as 5-foot-4, 160 pounds, with a shaved head, brown eyes and several tattoos. He was last seen wearing a green jacket, white shirt and blue jeans, Mendocino County authorities said.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. His car was recovered in south Ukiah near the mother's home, police said.
Anyone with information about Pantaleon's whereabouts is asked to call 911, Banayat said.
