Suspect Arrested In Sonoma Co. Man's Murder

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

SONOMA (BCN) ― The Sonoma County Sheriff's Department Monday identified 52-year-old Kenneth Swolley as the man who was fatally shot Saturday night at a home near Sonoma.

The sheriff's department arrested Salvadro Camargo, 26, for the murder, Lt. Chris Spallino said.

Swolley was shot once in the head at a home on Arnold Drive. Spallino said there were two other people in the home at the time, and that one of them went to the police station and reported the murder at 9:35 p.m. Saturday.

Swolley had recently been released from prison after serving time for a theft-related conviction and was staying in the Penngrove area, Spallino said. Detectives are still investigating the relationship between Swolley and Camargo and the motive for the murder.

The sheriff's department arrested Camargo after a resident on Pueblo Avenue, approximately 3 miles west of the home where the murder happened, called and said a man had come into her house and told her someone was trying to kill him, the sheriff's department said.

The man asked the woman to call 911 and the woman was able to leave the home and get away from him, Sgt. Tim Duke said.

Deputies arrived and Camargo was arrested. In the process, he was bitten by a police dog, Duke said.

Deputies found a car near the Pueblo Avenue house that matched the description of the murder victim's vehicle, Duke said.

Camargo is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Sonoma County Superior Court.
