Bay Area Smoke, Haze Make For Unhealthy Air

Smoke & haze settle on a Bay Area neighborhood.

Air quality in portions of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Solano, and Sonoma Counties is forecast to exceed federal health standards Thursday.
Officials with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District say the air quality in some areas will range between unhealthy to what's termed "unhealthy for sensitive groups."
Unhealthy air is predicted throughout the East Bay Thursday, including Concord, Livermore, Pittsburg, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek.
BAAQMD is advising residents in areas affected by the smoke to be cautious and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.
Unhealthy air for sensitive peoplethose with lung disease, as well as children and older adultsis predicted for a wide range of the North Bayfrom San Rafael to Santa Rosa.
The National Weather Service is predicting that smoke and haze will cover an area from the North Bay south to Monterey County through at least Friday.
