Police Identify Woman Fatally Shot On SJ Freeway
SAN JOSE (BCN) ―
San Jose police on Wednesday identified 27-year-old Kim Luu as the woman who was fatally shot on southbound state Highway 87 early Saturday morning after an altercation at a nightclub in the city.
The shooting was reported around 1:15 a.m., and officers responded to find Luu, of San Jose, and three other people in a vehicle near the intersection of Southwest Expressway and Leigh Avenue, according to police Officer Jermaine Thomas.
Luu was pronounced dead at the scene, Thomas said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the people in the vehicle had gotten into an altercation with a group of suspects at the Rodeo Club, a country/western-themed club located at 610 Coleman Ave., according to Thomas.
While driving away from the club, another vehicle pulled alongside the victims' vehicle and fired multiple shots at it on southbound Highway 87 just north of Interstate 280, Thomas said.
The victims' vehicle eventually stopped at Southwest Expressway and Leigh Avenue, where the responding officers found it. No one else in the vehicle was injured, according to Thomas.
Police have not announced any arrests in the shooting. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call Detective Sgts. Tony Mata or Dave Gutierrez of the Police Department's Homicide Unit at (408) 277-5283. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP.
