Man Expected To Survive East Palo Alto Shooting
EAST PALO ALTO (CBS 5 / BCN) ―
Police in East Palo Alto were investigating an early morning shooting that hospitalized one man.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter system alert reporting five gunshots detected in the 1100 block of Laurel Avenue at around 1 a.m. Police dispatch was called shortly thereafter with a report of a shooting in front of 1144 Laurel Ave., according to the East Palo Alto Police Department.
Arriving officers found one man suffering a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
The victim, East Palo Alto resident Richard Madrid, 26, was treated at the scene by Menlo Park Fire Department medics and taken to a hospital in stable condition. He was expected to survive his injury.
Police have yet to determine a motive for the shooting.
