San Francisco supervisors Tuesday voted to increase fees for usage of several Recreation and Park Department facilities and to charge non-city residents more for entrance to Golden Gate Park's Japanese Tea Garden and Conservatory of Flowers.

Ordinances introduced by Mayor Gavin Newsom will raise swimming pool single-use adult fees by $1, as well as monthly and annual passes; clubhouse and gymnasium hourly rates; fees for day camps and after school programs; fees for the use of athletic fields; and parking rates at Kezar Stadium.

Additional ordinances will charge adult non-residents $7 to visit the Japanese Tea Garden and the Conservatory of Flowers, $2 more than for residents. Youth and children visiting from outside the city will also be charged more.

The city is struggling to make up a budget deficit estimated at $575.6 million.

Tuesday's votes by the Board of Supervisors were nearly unanimous, with only supervisors Ross Mirkarimi and Chris Daly objecting to the swimming pool and athletic field increases.

Mirkarimi said he was concerned that with the modernizing of the city's swimming pools, the prices were becoming "cost-prohibitive" to everyday San Franciscans.

Daly also voted against hikes to the after school program fees.
