SF Police Team Up With CHP For Increased Patrols
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ―
The California Highway Patrol is teaming up with the San Francisco Police Department to increase the number of officers patrolling the city throughout the week, starting Wednesday evening.
Operation Impact attempts to use a significant visual police presence to reduce traffic violations and collisions and increase the safety of city residents, according to police.
The operation will be conducted during evening hours Wednesday in the Taraval District; Thursday in the Mission District; Friday in the Ingleside District; and Sunday in the Northern District.
The operation is typically conducted over a period of two months, twice a year, said CHP Officer Herman Quon.
In May and early June of this year, Operation Impact has led to 740 traffic stops, 32 DUI arrests, seven felony arrests, an additional four felony drug arrests and 204 verbal warnings, according to Quon. Twenty-nine people were taken into custody on various other charges and two guns were recovered.
