Crash Into Building Shuts Busy SF Intersection
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ―
A traffic collision at Fell and Franklin streets in San Francisco Tuesday morning may have caused a crack in a building, prompting police to shut down the busy intersection during rush hour, a police spokeswoman said.
Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said two vehicles crashed around 7:30 a.m. and the impact sent one over a fire hydrant and into some construction material against the side of a building.
Police noticed a crack in the structure afterward and closed the intersection as a precaution. "There was a crack in the upper corner of the red brick building," Tomioka said.
As of 10 a.m. one lane closest to the building remained closed, Tomioka said.
The crash did not cause any life-threatening injuries, she said. The building that showed the crack has been unoccupied except for construction workers, she said.
