Vallejo Police Arrest Suspected Serial Robber
VALLEJO (BCN) ―
Vallejo police said an 18-year-old man has been arrested as the main suspect in a series of armed robberies between May 5 and May 8.
Daniel Escobedo Preble, who has several local residences, was arrested Tuesday evening by Solano County Sheriff's deputies while driving in the area of Wallace Street at Starr Avenue, Lt. Rick Nichelman said.
Preble was captured during a foot pursuit but two male passengers escaped, Nichelman said. Police are trying to link them to the series of armed robberies, Nichelman said.
Police recovered a sawed-off .22-caliber rifle with 15 loaded rounds in Preble's vehicle, Nichelman said.
The suspects in the robberies are a white male and a black male, both approximately 18-20 years old. They wore similar clothing, were armed with handguns and used the same vehicle, Nichelman said.
Preble is suspected of robbing cash at gunpoint from a victim at the Bon Faire Market at 2817 Redwood Parkway and cash at gunpoint from a patron inside the "R Bar" at 437 Virginia St., Nichelman said. The bar patron was hit in the head with a handgun before the white male robber escaped, Nichelman said.
A white male suspect robbed the McDonald's restaurant at 5200 Sonoma Blvd. He threatened employees and took cash from the restaurant, Nichelman said.
Video captured an armed robbery at the McDonald's restaurant at 2565 Springs Road and another McDonald's restaurant at 3289 Sonoma Blvd. was robbed, Nichelman said. The suspect's clothing and method of operation seemed to match the other restaurant robberies, Nichelman said.
Police interviewed witnesses and developed leads leading to information that the primary suspect, Preble, was accompanied by a partner who dressed similarly and also was armed, Nichelman said.
