55-Year-Old San Rafael Man Goes Missing
SAN RAFAEL (BCN) ―
The search for a San Rafael man who went missing Thursday evening was temporarily called off around Kentfield and Phoenix Lake on Friday, according to police.
John David McCormick, 55, was last seen late Thursday afternoon and the authorities were notified when he did not return home from work.
According to police, McCormick's family claimed he had recently been concerned about health issues and financial matters. A description of his dark blue 2007 Cadillac Escalade was broadcast.
The Marin County Sheriff's Office located the vehicle late Thursday night in Crown Road in Kentfield but it was empty. A county search and rescue team began a search of the area beginning at 9 a.m. today, police said.
The area searched was broadened to include Phoenix Lake in unincorporated Marin County but had to be stopped when it got dark.
Police said the search is expected to resume Saturday.
McCormick is a white man, 5 feet 10 inches, 220 pounds with a
stocky build. He has balding salt-and-pepper hair, blue eyes and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a button-down collar shirt, khaki pants and possibly a green jacket.
Anyone with information regarding McCormick's whereabouts is asked to call police at (415) 485-3000.
